A letter from Jim King, former employer Dear Susan,
I am sending this from London and I am thinking about how fragile this life
we live is and how unkind in it is in many ways. I know Costa would not have
considered it unkind because he had always such a positive spirit. He lived life
being so considerate to others and always focusing on the positive elements. He
seemed not to have a mean bone in his body but the reality of the situation was,
I feel, he did not want to waste his time or energy focusing on negative issues
that were truly not productive either from a social or business standpoint.
Most "older" people are the focus of the young. The reverse was true in
Costa's case for I consider myself very fortunate to have known him. I was so
impressed on how positive his attitude always was; and during a difficult period
in my own life, he helped me refocus on the truly important issues. In
particular, how one should leads one's life in a positive and humanistic way
each day. While Costa's life was short and he did not have the time to
develop his full potential, we all have lost something because, I feel,
Costa could have made a significant contribution to society not only because of
his intelligence but also because of his humanity. We have lost a wonderful
person who positively impacted everyone he met. I will never forget Costa and I
am deeply saddened by this lost.
I am in London now and will not be able to attend his memorial in New York but
hope to see you and Costa's sister in New England. I will also be communticating
directly with Costa's parents.
Sincerely,
Jim King |
